The interface is customizable so you can have a huge font readable from any distance. It uses sound-volume, mute, Up/Down, Enter, play/pause and maximize. It's basically like a TV channel selector, it's operated by remote control from your couch or bed, sends a URL command to any browser of your choice and exits. If you're a news junkie, I wrote an applet designed to work with any Linux. XBMC is interesting but not suitable for fetching live news online. Most of these work through context menus, requiring you to be at the computer with keyboard and mouse, but not from your living-room couch.

There is also an add-on (plugin) to use any external multimedia application, like "SMplayer" as well.Ģ.) If you are using this PC as a Home Theater PC (HTPC), then why not use "Kodi (xbmc)" or "Plex" home theater applications which are designed for this? There are browser add-ons (plugins) available for this on the Firefox website and in your Mint repos (Software Manager or Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)). 1.) You might find better results and better memory usage by using an external multimedia player to open the videos from your browser, like "MPV" or "VLC", etc.
